What Is Qi And How Does Massage Help It?

It aids in clairvoyance, clairaudience, long-distance healing, astral travel, and psionics/mind control. This is obviously high-level stuff, but this practice should not be considered the most important. As far as I’m concerned, this stuff is “cute,” but the real gold is in the nei gong, which effectuates personal transformation.

The traditional Chinese art of geomancy, the placement and arrangement of space called feng shui, is based on calculating the balance of qi, interactions between the five elements, yin and yang, and other factors. The retention or dissipation of qi is believed to affect the health, wealth, energy level, luck, and many other aspects of the occupants. Attributes of each item in a space affect the flow of qi by slowing it down, redirecting it or accelerating it. This is said to influence the energy level of the occupants.

This very important form of Qi is the Qi of the Spleen and Stomach, the Earth organs, the main organs of digestion located in the middle burner. They are in charge of “transportation and transformation” of Qi and blood. An example is holding the Organs in the right place and blood within the vessels. The Nutritive Qi of the body is what moves and circulates within the blood vessels along side the blood. Blood and Ying Qi are often talked about as separate entities but are inseparable and sometimes texts refer to it as “Nutritive Blood” or “Nutritive Yin”. The Nutritive and Defensive are yin-yang pairs respectively.

Any imbalances in the spleen qi would create what western medicine calls gastrointestinal issues. People with a qi deficiency may have a tendency towards stress and may benefit from improving their sleep patterns. A study published inExperimental Neurobiology reports that excessive stress is bad for both the body and the brain. Stress may activate the brain at night, making sound sleep difficult. People with qi deficiency may work too hard, are always on the go, and never have downtime. To help balance the qi in the body, many TCM practitioners recommend a heavy focus on rest.

Sometimes, cultivating more energy is as simple as getting out of our own way, of letting go of stress, tension, old emotions, and discordant thoughts. Abundant energy is not something that we have to create or make. It is always there, wanting to flow, wanting to express itself as creativity and balance. The body weighs the same, has the same organs and muscles, but is lifeless. It’s the power behind your heart, it’s the light in your mind, it’s the shine in your eyes, it’s the movement in your body.

What we want in the material world is a reflection of an inner feeling – security, fulfillment, health, power, excitement, youth, and vitality. One of my teachers calls this incessant desire for material goods the search for “Dragon eggs.” In other words, it is a search for something that doesn’t exist. When your life and life all around become harmonious, the energy you experience is joyful, exciting, and fulfilling. When internal energy and external energy combine in just the right way, we experience love; love for someone, love for each other, love of life, and love for ourselves. Qi In the Yellow Emperor’s classic on Chinese Medicine (I’m sure you’ve read it, it’s a classic), about 360 different kinds of Qi’s , you get Qi, your aliveness, from different sources. When you don’t eat for a few hours or days, your energy changes.
